Jennifer Parker

Jennifer Parker, an Associate at John K. Zaid & Associates, took an unconventional road into personal injury law, through social justice scholarship, family law work for indigent clients, and formal mediation training, and that road produced a lawyer unusually attuned to what an injury actually does to a family. Parker discovered early on that negotiating on behalf of family and friends came naturally to her, and she has spent her career sharpening that instinct into professional advocacy.

Parker earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law, where she served as Associate Editor of the Texas Journal of Business Law and was active in Delta Theta Phi and the school’s Women’s Law Society. She completed her mediator certification there as well, training that pays real dividends in settlement negotiations, since a certified mediator understands from the inside how disputes actually get resolved. She also holds a Master of Humanities with a certification in Women’s Studies from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and has presented scholarly work at the University of Houston Humanities Conference, including her paper ‘Perception and the Law: What We See, What We Don’t See, and What We Should See.’

Her first legal position was at a family law clinic representing indigent clients in divorce and custody matters, work that taught her to fight for people at their most vulnerable. She credits her mother, who has cared for patients in the medical field since age sixteen, with instilling her work ethic and drive. Guiding clients through the entire arc of their injury cases has turned personal injury into a genuine passion; she has watched up close how a single accident reshapes a family’s daily life.

A Texarkana native who has made Houston home since 2006, Parker is a devoted Rockets and Astros fan, an amateur short story writer, and the proud mother of three grown daughters.
