What an attorney listing can tell you, what a verification label should mean, and what to check before hiring a lawyer.

A listing is a starting point
A directory profile is not a recommendation that a particular lawyer is right for every case. Listing information can change. Presence in the directory does not establish an active commercial relationship with LawyerHelpNow, availability to take a case, or guaranteed results.
Interpreting verification labels
A verification claim should identify the information checked, the official source, and the date of the check. A license check addresses the licensing information available at that time; it does not independently verify every statement in a profile, the quality of representation, malpractice coverage, or suitability for your case. If a profile does not show a source and check date, do not assume that a current independent check has occurred.
Check credentials independently
Before hiring an attorney, check the licensing authority for the state where advice or representation is needed. For Texas, start with the State Bar of Texas. Match the lawyer’s full name and bar number, and review available status and disciplinary information. Ask the lawyer directly about relevant experience, conflicts, availability, and fees.
Experience, awards, and past results
Profiles should distinguish attorney-supplied information from independently checked facts. Awards should identify their issuing organization and relevant year. Case results depend on individual facts and should never be treated as a forecast. A claimed specialty or certification should identify the certifying organization so readers can verify it.
Featured placement and “best” lists
A featured position is not, by itself, a quality ranking. Paid or sponsored placement should be labeled where it appears. A comparative list should explain its selection criteria, sources, limitations, and relevant commercial relationships. Without a stated methodology, readers should not interpret the word “best” as proof of an independent comparison of all available attorneys.
Claiming, correcting, or disputing a profile
Email help@lawyerhelpnow.com with the profile URL, the exact information in question, and an official source or relevant professional contact information. State whether you are the listed lawyer, an authorized representative, or a reader. Do not send identity documents, private client files, or passwords in the initial message.
Complaints about professional conduct
Use our Complaints & Support page for concerns about LawyerHelpNow or its listings. Complaints about a lawyer’s professional conduct may also need to go to the appropriate licensing or disciplinary authority. LawyerHelpNow does not replace a state bar’s disciplinary process.
Licensed attorneys interested in working with LawyerHelpNow can read our attorney partnership page and send their public licensing details for consideration.
