Our role, clearly explained

LawyerHelpNow publishes legal information and provides an attorney directory and case inquiry service. Our goal is to help you understand common legal questions and find a starting point for a conversation with an attorney.

We are not a law firm. Reading a guide or sending an inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship. Only an attorney who understands your circumstances can advise you about your case.

Who is responsible for our content?

The LawyerHelpNow Team is the editorial contact for this website. Article bylines identify the listed author. Questions about an article, its sources, or its attribution can be sent through our contact page.

Editorial responsibility is different from legal review. A team credit is not a claim that an attorney reviewed a page. A legal review credit should identify the reviewing attorney, their relevant credentials, the scope of the review, and the review date.

Our standards for a useful legal guide

  • Start with authoritative sources. Legal statements should be checked against applicable statutes, court rules, court decisions, and official agency information. Sources should be linked where readers need to verify a claim.
  • Make the jurisdiction clear. Rules and deadlines can differ by state, claim, and circumstances. A general guide should not imply that one rule applies everywhere.
  • Separate facts from examples. Hypothetical examples and calculator estimates are illustrations, not predictions or promises.
  • Use accurate attribution. Author experience, reviewer credentials, testimonials, and case results must be supportable. A publication date alone does not establish that an article has received a fresh legal review.

These are our editorial standards; this page is not a certification that every existing article has completed an attorney review.

How to read review labels

Written by identifies an article’s credited author. Editorial responsibility identifies the team to contact about the publication. Reviewed by should be used only after an actual review, with a named reviewer or team and a recorded review date.

Editorial checks for clarity, sources, and presentation do not amount to legal advice. Attorney review is a separate step and should be explicitly attributed.

AI tools may assist with drafting, organization, or formatting. AI-generated text is not a legal authority and does not substitute for checking sources or professional judgment.

Corrections and updates

Found an error or outdated rule? Contact the LawyerHelpNow Team with the article URL, the passage in question, and an authoritative source if you have one. Do not include confidential case documents in an editorial correction request.

Substantive corrections should explain what changed. Review dates should reflect completed reviews, rather than routine formatting changes.

Choosing an attorney is your decision

A listing, profile, or featured placement is not a guarantee of quality, availability, or results. Check an attorney’s current licensing and disciplinary record with the relevant state bar, ask about experience with your type of case, and discuss fees before agreeing to representation.

Past outcomes do not predict the result of another case. Paid or sponsored placements should be clearly identified wherever they appear; prominence alone should not be treated as an independent ranking.

What happens when you send an inquiry?

Submitting an inquiry is free. The information you provide is forwarded to lawyers so they can evaluate your inquiry and contact you. Hiring and legal fees are arranged directly with the lawyer. Submitting an inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship or guarantee a match or response time.

Share only the basic information requested. Do not submit Social Security numbers, medical records, financial account details, or confidential legal documents. If you want to understand how your information will be used or shared before submitting it, contact us first.
