Disha Roy

Disha Roy has seen injury litigation from nearly every seat: plaintiff’s trial lawyer at a major Houston firm, founder of her own practice, and general counsel advising companies with revenues reaching $500 million. During her earlier tenure at Abraham Watkins, which began in 2014, she worked catastrophic cases spanning chemical plant explosions, commercial trucking crashes, defective products, and business disputes. After building her own firm and serving stints at two other notable personal injury practices, she returned to Abraham Watkins with experience covering every phase of a case — from the first intake conversation through trial. Having also counseled companies on the other side of the table, she understands how corporate defendants think about risk and exposure, which sharpens her leverage in negotiations — she has sat in the rooms where defendants decide what a claim is worth to them.

Born in Houston and a lifelong resident of the Bayou City, Roy earned her B.A. in business from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2009, concentrating in small business and entrepreneurship and serving as vice president of a collegiate entrepreneurship organization. Set on being a lawyer since childhood, she finished her J.D. at South Texas College of Law Houston early, graduating in 2012 after packing her law school years with legal clinics, the Summer Advocacy Mock Trial program, and internships at Lone Star Legal Aid, Harris County Probate Court No. 3, and an employment law firm. She began her career in employment and tax law before finding her calling representing the injured, and she remains active on the school’s Young Alumni Council.
