Rob Crain

Rob Crain built Crain Brogdon, LLP from a one-lawyer plaintiff’s practice he opened in 2001 into a nationally recognized catastrophic injury firm – and his own story explains the firm’s edge. Crain started his career on the insurance defense side, representing the very companies injury victims fight against. That inside view of how defendants value, delay, and defend negligence claims became the foundation of his plaintiff’s practice after he trained under a well-known Texas trial lawyer and switched sides for good.

Crain has secured some of the largest personal injury verdicts and settlements in the country, including a verdict for the parents of a child killed by negligence that set precedent nationally. He also gave his time to one of the era’s hardest cases, providing pro bono representation for a September 11 World Trade Center victim before the September 11 Fund.

His peer recognition spans two decades without interruption. U.S. News’ Best Lawyers in America has listed him repeatedly (2007-2014, 2019, 2021, and the 2023 edition), and named him Dallas/Fort Worth Lawyer of the Year for plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation in 2022. The National Trial Lawyers put him among the Top 100 civil plaintiff lawyers in the country in 2017. Texas Monthly has named him a Texas Super Lawyer across many years, and he carries Martindale-Hubbell’s AV rating for ethics and skill. Early in his career he swept both the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Dallas and Outstanding Young Lawyer of Texas honors for 2004-2005, and in 2016 the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association recognized his courageous pursuit of justice under adversity. The State Bar of Texas presented him the Michael J. Crowley Award during his service as a State Bar director.

Crain graduated from the University of Texas with high honors and took his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He has served on the Texas Trial Lawyers Association board of directors continuously since 2001, and his community footprint runs deep: past board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas, moderator of political debates and civic forums, and recipient of the Dallas Police Association’s Back the Blue Award and the DAYFL Award of Excellence.
