About Muhammad S. Aziz
When mass disaster strikes in Texas, whether a plant explosion, a festival tragedy or a defective product harming thousands, Muhammad “Mo” Aziz is repeatedly the lawyer courts and victims turn to. A partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner since 2012 and Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law, Aziz has played a significant role in settlements and verdicts exceeding $800 million, and his name is attached to many of the highest-profile injury litigations of the past two decades.
The scale of his caseload tells the story. He represents more than 5,000 veterans and service members in the 3M Combat Arms earplug litigation, hundreds of victims of the 2021 Astroworld festival tragedy, victims of the 2021 and 2022 Westlake chemical explosions and the 2021 LyondellBasell plant explosion, and dozens of first responders hurt in the Arkema chemical plant explosions. Courts keep placing him in charge: he is Plaintiff Liaison Counsel in the state-court MDL covering more than 2,000 claims from the 2020 Watson Grinding explosion, held the same court-appointed role in the 2018 Kuraray plant explosion case, and served on plaintiffs’ steering committees for the Hurricane Rita evacuation bus fire, the Victoria bus rollover, and on the four-member executive committee for the 2013 West Fertilizer plant explosion.
His results reach well beyond Texas. Aziz represented 23 survivors of Larry Nassar’s abuse in claims against Michigan State University, USA Gymnastics and Nassar himself, litigation that produced a $500 million global settlement with MSU. He also represented over 1,000 plaintiffs in the One October shooting litigation against MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, which resolved globally for more than $800 million.
Recognition has followed the work: consistent selection to Texas Super Lawyers, including the Top 100 lists for both Houston and all of Texas; the “Attorney of the Year” honor from Texas Lawyer magazine and ALM Media in the 2021 Texas Legal Excellence Awards; and the Muslim Bar Association of Houston’s Excellence in the Legal Profession Award in 2022. Colleagues describe a lawyer defined by late nights, weekends at the office, and obsessive attention to detail in every file.
Aziz earned a Bachelor of Laws with honors from the University of London in 2000 and his law degree with honors from the University of Houston Law Center in 2004. In 2022 he gave back to his alma mater by endowing four full-tuition scholarships for law students facing financial hardship. He earned his Board Certification from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2012.
He is the clear match for victims of industrial and chemical plant explosions, mass casualty events, and defective products affecting large groups, as well as serious truck, workplace and vehicle accidents. If your case is likely to involve many victims and coordinated litigation, his string of court appointments shows that judges trust him to lead. Consultations are free, and the firm works on contingency.
