About Jennifer O. Stogner
Jennifer O’Brien Stogner, a partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner in Houston, brings a perspective most plaintiff lawyers cannot: she has spent her career on both sides of the courtroom. She has represented injured individuals, small businesses, and major corporations, handling disputes valued anywhere from $800 to more than $80 million. For a victim weighing which Houston attorney to trust, that range matters — she knows exactly how defense teams and insurers build their playbook, because she has run it herself.
Her trial credentials were forged early. She launched her litigation career at a plaintiff’s firm working on the BP Texas City explosion cases — one of the largest industrial disasters in Texas history — an immersion in complex, high-stakes injury litigation that most young lawyers never experience. Since then she has represented countless individuals and families hurt or killed because a company or person failed to put safety first. Her guiding rule, the same one she teaches her three children, is blunt: safety first, otherwise someone gets hurt. Peer recognition has followed — she is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs (2024–2026) and Insurance Litigation (2025–2026).
The law runs in her family. Born in Galveston and raised in Corpus Christi, she worked through college as a legal secretary for her father, attorney Michael O’Brien, before earning a double major in finance and accounting from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2002. She then followed her father to South Texas College of Law Houston, where she competed in eleven national moot court and mock trial tournaments in the school’s nationally ranked advocacy program. In 2006, her mock trial team — which included her future husband and fellow firm partner Brant Stogner — won the ATLA (now AAJ) Student Trial Advocacy Competition national championship in Miami. She graduated that year with Dean’s List honors, membership in the Order of Barristers, and the Dean’s Outstanding Student Advocate Award. She stays deeply involved in Houston’s legal community, having served as president of the South Texas College of Law Houston Alumni Association and on the board of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association since 2017.
Jennifer Stogner is a strong match for families pursuing wrongful death claims, workers hurt in industrial and workplace accidents, and anyone whose case involves a complicated insurance fight — particularly claims where the other side has corporate resources and experienced counsel. Her finance and accounting training helps her quantify what an injury truly costs over a lifetime. The firm takes cases on contingency with free consultations, so it costs nothing to find out whether she is the right fit.
